Spotlight on Benefits and Wellness: How the Coupa Village Recharged on Wellness Day

At Coupa, we know that driving massive business impact is only possible when our people are healthy, supported, and balanced. That's why we observe two global Wellness Days a year, dedicated time for #AllOfUs to step away from work, fully unplug, and prioritize our personal well-being.
As we marked our second Wellness Day of 2026, we launched our new storytelling series, Spotlight on Benefits and Wellness, to hear how Coupanians across functions and geographies used this dedicated time to step back, unplug, and sustain their momentum.
Whether hitting the trails, taking on global adventures, spending uninterrupted moments with family, or simply declaring a deliberate "do nothing" afternoon, here is how our Coupa community disconnected to reconnect with what matters most.
Clearing the ‘Context Window’ in Product
For Keerthi Raghavendra, a Product Manager who joined Coupa within the last year, a true recharge meant trading product roadmaps and laptop screens for pure stillness under the open sky at Shoreline Park.
"For me, a true recharge means stepping away from the constant hustle, embracing stillness, and simply letting my mind wander without any agenda, schedules, or screens," Keerthi shared. "There is something incredibly fun and liberating about declaring a deliberate 'do nothing' day!"

Drawing a clever parallel to modern AI workflows, Keerthi explained how unplugging powers better results: "Think of it like clearing the context window on Navi, Coupa’s AI assistant, to get ready for a brilliant new prompt! By stepping entirely away and letting my brain unplug by the water, I’m basically letting my own neural network run a massive background update. When I get back to my desk, I return with zero mental 'hallucinations,' and a fresh surge of creative energy to crush big goals and bring my absolute best to the team."
Her advice for colleagues seeking balance? "Keep it fabulously simple! Wellness doesn’t have to mean booking a massive vacation or scaling a mountain. Sometimes the best adventure is just grabbing a blanket, finding a sunny patch of grass, and dedicating 15 minutes to staring at the sky."
Trading Screens for Trails in Sales
For Sue Fay, a Senior Solutions Advisor in Sales based out of the Chicago area, Wellness Day has become an annual outdoor tradition with her dog Pliny — a certified National Parks "BARK Ranger." The duo headed into the woods for camping and trail hiking at Indiana Dunes National Park, followed by a weekend getaway with her husband.
"Working in a technical sales position and being on a computer all day, it's great to get a full break from screens and technology," Sue said. "While I love the fast-paced life of my chosen career, it's wonderful to slow down for a few days, take a breath, and focus on some quiet and peace versus the never-ending to-do list at home."

Sue also used the uninterrupted time to crochet a handcrafted gift for her aunt’s upcoming 90th birthday.
Her key takeaway for prioritizing well-being: "It IS tough, and you have to make time for it and actually prioritize it, because you show up to work as your energized best self. If I get up extra early and feel drawn to my computer to tweak a demo, I remind myself to prioritize a quick bike ride instead. Even 30 minutes on my bike trainer makes me feel so much more energized and ready to tackle the day than if I sat at my computer an extra 30 minutes."
Refilling the Cup in Marketing
For Kayla Nevans, who recently joined the global Marketing team, Wellness Day was about slowing down in her local neighborhood, soaking in nature, and catching an evening sunset.
"I hope to feel connection and appreciation for the community and area that I live in," Kayla explained. "I also want to remind myself it's okay to do something that is enjoyable purely for the sake of being enjoyable. Having a full break allows me to refill my cup and be prepared to jump back into the important work we do here."

Her practical advice for teammates: "Schedule your break time and honor it! This is something that I have had to be reminded of myself, and I am still practicing sticking to my own commitment."
Scaling New Heights: From Nepal to Q4
For Stephen Dodgson in Sales, Wellness Day offered the foundation for a transformative journey to Nepal with his wife, taking in the majesty of Mount Everest.
"It's been a long year. A reset is the perfect chance to take a breath, recharge, and reprioritize," Stephen reflected. "Strengthening our connection, experiencing a new country together, and recharging gets me ready to smash our Q4 goals."

His advice on finding time to unplug: "There is never a 'good' time to take time off. Simply commit."
